How to set up the Oura Ring connection to Natural Cycles

Ready to start? Connecting your Oura Ring as a New NC° User

How to connect your Oura Ring:

  1. Sign up for Natural Cycles to get the Oura integration: this link
  2. Log into the NC° app and follow the prompts to connect your Oura Account
  3. Important step: when logging into the Oura Cloud, use the exact email address associated with your Oura Account, even if it's different from your Natural Cycles email. You can see the email address for your Oura Account in your Oura App > Menu > Settings > Account 

How your past data is handled:

  • Temperature Data: If you have worn your Oura Ring for some time, the NC° algorithm will only use temperatures recorded after the earliest period you logged in the NC° app.
    • Note: If you recently stopped hormonal birth control, data syncs from that date. If you were recently pregnant, data syncs from the date the pregnancy ended.
  • Period Data: You must log your period directly in the NC° app, as the app does not receive this data from your Oura App.

How to Switch to Oura Ring as an Existing NC° User

If you are an existing Natural Cycles user transitioning from a different measuring device to the Oura Ring, here are a few key points to note for a smooth transition:

  • When to Switch: For the smoothest transition and fewer Red Days, we suggest connecting your Oura Ring after it arrives and ideally at the start of your next period. Once connected, you will no longer be able to enter thermometer temperatures or sync with a previous device.
  •  
  • Data Import: The NC° app will only import Oura temperature data starting from the date you switch devices in the app. You can learn more about this in the article Why isn’t my NC° app showing past data from my wearable device?
  • Adjustment Period: The algorithm still has access to your previous data, but it may initially give you more Red Days as it adjusts to the new temperature data. This should stabilize after one full cycle.
  • Tracking the Change: The day you switched to the Oura Ring will be marked in the Graph view with a vertical line alongside a ring symbol.

How to Get Started with the Oura Ring: 

  1. Purchase Your Ring (if needed): You can purchase it from the Natural Cycles app by going to the top menu > Shop > Claim my Oura offer
  2. Set Up the Integration: Tap the top menu > My device > Switch device > Oura Ring
  3. Important step: when logging into the Oura Cloud, use the exact email address associated with your Oura Account, even if it's different from your Natural Cycles email. You can see the email address for your Oura Account in your Oura App > Menu > Settings > Account
