Daily Syncing Steps
- Wear your Oura Ring every night while you sleep
- Sync your ring with the Oura App when you wake up
- Check your daily fertility status in the NC° app!
⚠️ Important: Always check the NC° app for your fertility status. Oura Ring syncs your body temperature data with the Natural Cycles app — our algorithm then analyzes this alongside other cycle variables, which may cause your ovulation and temperature data to look different in each app. The Oura App does not use our regulated algorithm and should never be used for birth control.
Understanding Your Temperature and Fertility Status
- Ensure adequate sleep: You must get at least three hours of sleep so the NC° algorithm can receive the necessary temperature trend data to calculate your daily fertility status
- Temperature Value: The Oura Ring provides Natural Cycles with temperature trends from your sleep, which the NC° algorithm processes into a single, absolute temperature value. This is the temperature you see in the app.
- Temperature Timestamp: The timestamp under your temperature shows the time when the syncing happened, not when the temperature data was collected. The temperature value itself is calculated from your time asleep.
- Sleeping after syncing: if you sync and then go back to sleep, the algorithm automatically recalculates your temperature once additional sleep data is synced again. If the temperature doesn’t update, it’s because the final calculated temperature, which incorporates all the data from your full night’s sleep, remained the same.
- Fertility Status: We recommend syncing your Oura data every morning for optimal use. Once you have saved your daily temperature, you will see your updated fertility status on the Today tab. It is important to ensure your latest data is synced, as new data may update your daily fertility status.
Handling Missed Syncs
If you skipped syncing for several days, you can sync multiple days of data at once. Once the data has synced, the new temperatures will be displayed in the NC° app, and you will see if any temperatures were excluded or adjusted by the algorithm.
Note: Adding new data for a past day may change a past fertility status.
