Note: To be able to access the Apple Watch integration, please:
- Update your NC°app to version 5.1.0
- Update your phone operating system to iOS16
Visit this article to check the requirements for the Apple Watch integration.
💡 If you recently upgraded to a new Apple Watch, you must wear it at least once for it to collect data before attempting to connect it with your NC° app (otherwise, you may see a warning saying your watch is incompatible).
I’m new to Natural Cycles and want to use it with my Apple Watch
- To get started, sign up to use Natural Cycles through this link and choose Apple Watch as your measuring device.
- Log into the Natural Cycles app, and you will be taken through a flow to set up the integration between your Natural Cycles app and your Apple Watch. The app will prompt you to give NC° permission to read your wrist temperature and heart rate data — please enable these. Note: If you don't see the screen below in the connection flow or if you can't see ‘Wrist temperature’ in your permissions, please delete and reinstall the NC° app and go through the connection flow once more.
- In the Apple Health app, set up your Sleep Schedule (learn more about how to do this here). You must set up the Sleep Schedule, and turn Sleep Focus on during your sleep for the wrist temperature data to be collected. We recommend you turn ON ‘Use Schedule for Sleep Focus’, which will enable Sleep Focus automatically based on the Sleep Schedule.
- In the Apple Watch app on your phone, enable Track Sleep with Apple Watch
If you’re a new Natural Cycles user but have worn your Apple Watch overnight for some time, only the temperatures added after the earliest period you provided in the Natural Cycles app will be taken into account by the Natural Cycles algorithm. However, if you recently quit hormonal birth control, the algorithm will sync data from the date you quit hormonal birth control instead. If you recently were pregnant, the data will sync from the date the pregnancy ended.
How to connect your Apple Watch to Natural Cycles as an existing Natural Cycles user
If you’re transitioning from using Natural Cycles with another device to using Natural Cycles with an Apple Watch, please note:
- You won’t be able to enter thermometer temperatures after you connect to your Apple Watch, so we suggest you connect once you have the Apple Watch at the start of your next period.
- Switching at the start of your next period will make for a smoother transition with fewer Red Days and allow you to continue using Natural Cycles with your other device until the beginning of your next cycle.
- The app will mark the day you switch to the Apple Watch in the Graph View with a vertical line alongside a watch symbol.
- The Natural Cycles app will only import Apple Watch data from the date when you switched your device to the Apple Watch in the app. You can learn more about this here.
- The algorithm will still access your previous data, but it may need some time to adjust to the new device. You may get more Red Days, but this should adjust after a complete cycle. Here, we write more about how switching from the thermometer to Apple Watch affects your data.
Here’s how to get started with Apple Watch:
- If you don’t have an Apple Watch yet, you can purchase it from an Apple Store or on the Apple website.
- To set up the Apple Watch integration from your existing Natural Cycles account, go into your app and tap the top menu > My device > Switch device > Apple Watch. You will then go through the connection flow, which will prompt you to give permission to NC° to read your wrist temperature and heart rate data.
We recommend you Turn ON 'Use Schedule for Sleep Focus', which will enable Sleep Focus automatically based on the Sleep Schedule.
- In the Apple Watch app on your phone, enable Track Sleep with Apple Watch
