Are your temperatures collected in the Apple Health app?
If the wrist temperature data from Apple Watch does not sync to Natural Cycles, as a first step, please check to see if the temperatures show in your Apple Health app.
To do so, go to the Apple Health app > Browse > Wrist temperatures > Scroll to the bottom > Click on "Show all data".
I don’t see my temperatures in the Apple Health app
If you don’t see your temperatures in the Apple Health app, then it’s likely that you have not met some of the following requirements:
-
Is your Apple Watch compatible?
To use your Apple Watch with Natural Cycles your watch must have a temperature sensor. This includes Apple Watch Series 8 and later, or any model of Apple Watch Ultra. Please note the Apple Watch SE does not have a temperature sensor, so it can’t be used with Natural Cycles.
If you don’t know which model you have, this article may help.
-
Was Sleep Focus ON for more than 4 hours?
Your wrist temperature is only collected if you have Sleep Focus ON for more than 4 hours each night. You can set up a Sleep Schedule so that Sleep Focus turns itself ON automatically each night by enabling Use Schedule for Sleep Focus. Learn more about this here.
-
Is your Apple Watch set up to track Sleep?
You can learn how to set up Sleep on your Apple Watch here.
-
Did your Apple Watch run out of battery during the night?
You must charge your Apple Watch at least 30% before you sleep. If your Apple Watch runs out of battery while you sleep, your wrist temperature data will not be available to sync. To prevent this from happening, you can enable charging reminders in the Apple Watch app.
-
Was the Apple Watch positioned correctly on your wrist?
If the watch fits too tightly or loosely on your wrist, it may not collect your temperature data. Your watch should fit snugly so there’s enough contact with the skin for the sensors to get a good temperature reading, but not too tight that it’s uncomfortable to wear overnight.
If you meet all the above requirements and your data still does not get collected on Apple Health, please try toggling the settings such as “Use schedule for Sleep Focus”, “Sleep Schedule,” “Track sleep with Apple Watch” OFF and back ON before your next night of sleep. If you still do not see a temperature the next morning, you must contact Apple support so they can help look into this further.
I see my temperatures in the Apple Health app
If your temperatures are collected in the Apple Health app but do not sync to the NC° app, please check the following:
-
Have you given Natural Cycles the permissions to access your wrist temperature & heart rate data?
You can check this from your phone’s Settings app > Privacy & Security > Health > Natural Cycles. Heart Rate and Wrist Temperature should be toggled ON
-
Are you trying to sync past data?
As a new Natural Cycles user, only the temperatures added after the earliest period you provided in the NC° app will be taken into account by the Natural Cycles algorithm. Note: If you recently quit hormonal birth control, the algorithm will sync data from the date you quit hormonal birth control instead. If you recently were pregnant, the data will sync from the date the pregnancy ended.
As an existing Natural Cycles user, the NC° app will only import Apple Watch data starting from the date when you switched your device to the Apple Watch in the app. You can learn more about this here.
If your temperatures are collected in the Apple Health app and if you meet all the above requirements but your data does not sync to the NC° app, please reach out to our Customer Support team via this link for further assistance.
