To get started with Natural Cycles, you will need the following:
1. A Natural Cycles account with an active subscription
To use Natural Cycles, you need an account with an active subscription. You can create an account and sign up for a subscription in the app or on our website.
Download the Natural Cycles app from the App Store or Google Play, or use the web app through our website.
2. An integrated wearable device or a basal thermometer
To identify your fertile window, the NC° algorithm needs regular temperature data. Tracking changes in your body temperature helps the algorithm understand where you are in your cycle and detect ovulation.
You can log temperature data using a compatible wearable device that integrates with Natural Cycles or a basal thermometer.
You’ll find a list of approved and supported devices here: Which device is right for me?
If you’d like to learn more about how temperature data is used, read How Natural Cycles works.
3. Ovulation tests (optional)
Ovulation tests (also called LH tests) are optional and not required to use Natural Cycles.
The NC° algorithm primarily uses temperature data to detect ovulation. However, the app may recommend taking ovulation tests on a few days leading up to your expected ovulation, as they can help narrow down and confirm ovulation earlier.
NC° Birth Control users get roughly 5% more Green Days in a cycle with positive ovulation tests recorded in the app, and NC° Plan Pregnancy users benefit from the extra accuracy in pinpointing ovulation and their most fertile days.
You'll find Natural Cycles' ovulation tests in our webshop. Learn more about ovulation tests in this article: Why should I take ovulation tests?
