NC° Recovery is a transitional app mode that has been created specifically for NC° Plan Pregnancy users who may be going through physical and/or emotional symptoms after a pregnancy loss and wish to take some time to recover.
If you have logged a pregnancy loss, you’ll be given the option to use NC° Recovery.
You can use this mode to keep track of your body’s recovery without receiving a daily fertility status.
How will the algorithm work while I’m using NC° Recovery?
You will still be able to log your temperature if you would like.
Once the algorithm detects that your cycle has returned to normal, it will let you know so that you can switch back to the regular mode once you’re ready.
The algorithm will work as usual in the background, and once you’re ready to use the regular mode, the data added while using NC° Recovery will be taken into account to calculate your fertility status.
If you don’t wish to measure at this time, that’s absolutely okay – keep in mind that it may take a bit longer for the algorithm to understand your fertility status when you switch back to the regular mode. If you switch to NC° Birth Control, you may get more Red Days initially, but as you log more data, the algorithm will eventually adjust. If you switch to NC° Plan Pregnancy, you may get more Brown Days initially. However, as you log more data, the algorithm will adjust to this and provide more accurate information about your fertility status.
It’s important to keep in mind that if you’d like to prevent pregnancy, you should use protection while using NC° Recovery.
Keeping track of your recovery
Before you switch to NC° Recovery, you’ll be given the option to adjust your trackers and reminders in case you want to use the app differently at this time.
Know that you can always adjust your trackers via the Add Data page > Manage tracker settings or by going to the menu in the top left corner > Settings > Trackers. Learn more here.
How to log different types of bleeding while using NC° Recovery
If you bleed* from the pregnancy loss, we recommend that you log this as Bleeding in the app for as long as you bleed. The Bleeding option will be available for three weeks after the pregnancy ends and will replace the Period option (you will not be able to log a period at this time). You will get the Period tracker back three days after you’ve last logged Bleeding, or once ovulation has been detected by the algorithm. The Bleeding option will then be removed.
Once you get your period, you should log it as Period.
If you are spotting (very light bleeding, most often just brown/pinkish fluids or a few drops of blood), you should select Spotting. Learn more here.
Note that the end of pregnancy will mark the start of a new cycle (Cycle Day 1). A new cycle will then only start once you log your next period (not if you log Bleeding or Spotting).
*If you’re unsure if the bleeding you experience is from the pregnancy loss, a period, or spotting, we recommend contacting your healthcare professional so they can guide you based on your unique situation.
Do I need to use NC° Recovery?
Using NC° Recovery is completely optional, so it’s up to you whether or not you would like to use it. Below you’ll find some details that may help you understand if this mode is right for you:
Who is NC° Recovery for?
NC° Recovery is for anyone who needs a mental break from the app’s normal functions after a pregnancy loss and wants to get a more personalized experience based on their current situation.
Who is NC° Recovery not for?
NC° Recovery may not be the best option for anyone who wants to see their daily fertility status and/or doesn’t want to be reminded of the end of their pregnancy.
How to exit NC° Recovery
The algorithm will let you know when it’s a good time for you to leave NC° Recovery. However, you can exit anytime by clicking on Quit NC° Recovery at the bottom of the Today page. You can also switch modes by going to the top menu > Settings > Mode.
What if I change my mind, can I enter NC° Recovery later?
You’ll only be able to enter NC° Recovery via the questions asked by the app after a pregnancy loss, and it’s currently not possible to re-answer those questions or switch to NC° Recovery later.
It’s also good to know that once you exit NC° Recovery, you won’t be able to switch back later.
