How soon can I take a pregnancy test?
The best time to take a pregnancy test is the day after your expected period.
If you test before that time, the pregnancy test may not be able to pick up on the pregnancy hormones (which need time to develop), so you may get a negative test result.
For a pregnancy test to give a positive result, implantation needs to happen first, and there needs to be sufficient buildup of hormones.
When a person becomes pregnant, the fertilized egg implants into the uterus on average around 9 days after ovulation. This is also when the body first becomes aware that it’s pregnant and starts producing the hCG hormone, which is what a pregnancy test can detect.
Will the NC° app let me know when to test for pregnancy?
When using NC° Plan Pregnancy, you will see a pregnancy test symbol displayed 1-5 days after your predicted period – depending on how regular your cycle is and how well the algorithm knows your cycle.
If you’re using NC° Birth Control and the app recognizes that you might be pregnant (if your period is late and your temperature remains elevated), you will be prompted to take a pregnancy test.
Once/if you get a positive pregnancy test, the next step is to book an appointment with your healthcare professional so they can confirm the pregnancy.
