Note: The WHOOP integration is available on NC° app version 5.8.2 (or higher).
How to connect your WHOOP to the Natural Cycles app
As a new user
- Sign up to use Natural Cycles and choose WHOOP as your measuring device.
- Log in to the Natural Cycles app. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your WHOOP account. Enable permissions for heart rate and wrist temperature data when asked.
- Sleep wearing your WHOOP wearable overnight. Your WHOOP syncs to the WHOOP app automatically in the background, and your temperature data is then sent to the Natural Cycles app, where our algorithm transforms it into your daily fertility status.
As an existing user
You can change your measuring device at any time by going to the app’s top menu > My device > Switch device.
Please note that we recommend only switching measuring devices at the start of a new cycle. Check out the article How to switch measuring devices to learn more.
⚠️ Important: Always check the NC° app for your fertility status. WHOOP syncs your body temperature data with the Natural Cycles app — our algorithm then analyzes this alongside other cycle variables, which may cause your ovulation and temperature data to look different in each app. WHOOP does not use our regulated algorithm and should never be used for birth control.
Evening routine
Before sleeping each night:
-
Wear your WHOOP band on your outer wrist.
- Tip: Ensure your WHOOP fits snugly on your wrist. The sensor should stay in constant contact with the skin on your outer wrist, yet remain comfortable.
- If you want to swap the wrist you measure on, do this at the start of your next cycle.
-
Make sure your wearable has enough battery to last through the night.
- Battery life varies by model and usage. Keep an eye on the battery level in the WHOOP app, or double-tap the top of the sensor to check the LED light.
- If your WHOOP has a detachable charger, don't leave the charger attached overnight. Otherwise, your temperature won't be recorded for that night.
Morning routine
When you wake up:
-
Your temperature automatically transfers to the Natural Cycles app.
- Note: Temperature data may vary between the WHOOP and NC° apps.
- The NC° algorithm calculates your daily fertility status.
- Head to the NC° app to see if today is a Green/Red Day.

Natural Cycles will notify you that the sync was successful, so make sure notifications are enabled (top menu > Settings > Notifications).
What does the timestamp under my temperature mean?
The timestamp shown under your temperature indicates when the Natural Cycles app received the data from WHOOP, which may differ from the time you actually woke up.
Since WHOOP measures skin temperature at night while you sleep, your temperature data is captured overnight and then is sent to Natural Cycles after your sleep is processed.
Fertility status
Once the temperature from your WHOOP has synced with the NC° app, you will see your updated fertility status for the day on the Today tab in the Natural Cycles app.
It’s important to ensure that your latest temperature data syncs and is saved before you check your fertility status each day, as new data may change today’s status.
