What is perimenopause?
Perimenopause is also known as the menopause transition. Perimenopause begins when the ovaries gradually begin to make less estrogen hormone and usually starts in your 40s, but it’s individual and can occur earlier or later. During perimenopause, you may experience a variety of symptoms and notice your periods are becoming less regular.

Can I use Natural Cycles if I am perimenopausal?
You can use Natural Cycles if you’re perimenopausal. Using Natural Cycles can help you with tracking changes in your cycle so that you can better understand how perimenopause impacts your body.
Natural Cycle's effectiveness as a birth control (NC° Birth Control) method is not affected if you have perimenopause, so the app will still be as effective for you as for someone who doesn’t have perimenopause. If your cycles are irregular as a result of perimenopause, you may, however, experience an increased number of Red Days, which can reduce your satisfaction with Natural Cycles. You can still trust the Green Days you get (in the Today view).
Can I get pregnant during perimenopause?
During perimenopause, you can still ovulate, so there is a chance that you can become pregnant. If you’re using Natural Cycles on the NC° Birth Control mode, you need to use additional protection (such as condoms) during Red Days to prevent pregnancy.
Does perimenopause affect my temperature?
Perimenopause may affect your temperature. We recommend that you continue to measure first thing in the morning, as usual. If you feel unusually warm when you wake up or feel you have slept differently, you can exclude your temperature.
