When to switch to the Oura Ring
As an existing Natural Cycles user, we recommend that you start using the Oura Ring at the start of your next period after you’ve received your Oura Ring – this will make for a smoother transition with fewer Red Days (for NC° Birth Control) or Brown Days (for NC° Plan Pregnancy).
Once you start using the Oura Ring, you’ll see a marker on your graph that denotes the day you switched to syncing with your Oura Ring.
What happened to my past data?
Your past temperatures from your previous device will still be visible in the app (for example, in the Graph view and the Add Data view); however, the algorithm will no longer take them into account when assessing your day-to-day fertility status. This means that the temperatures from different devices are not mixed. As a result, your cover line will disappear, and eventually, the algorithm will establish a new cover line based on the temperatures converted from your Oura Ring.
The algorithm will continue to use your previously detected cycle characteristics (such as ovulation days or cycle lengths) in the predictions for the upcoming cycles. All your cycle statistics from your past cycles will also still be visible on the Cycle Insights page.
Please note that the Natural Cycles app will only import Oura Ring data from when you switched your device to the Oura Ring in the NC° app. Learn more about this here.
Effectiveness
There are no changes to NC° Birth Control’s effectiveness when using an Oura Ring compared to using the NC° thermometer: Natural Cycles is 93% effective with typical use and 98% effective with perfect use.
The biggest difference between using an Oura Ring instead of an oral thermometer is that you’ll no longer have to remember to measure your temperature every morning. To learn more about how the Oura Ring works with Natural Cycles, please read on here.
