Yes. If you're taking a GLP-1 medication such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, or a similar medication, you can continue using the Natural Cycles app if you’re looking to prevent pregnancy. These medications do not impact the effectiveness of NC° Birth Control.
Natural Cycles works differently from hormonal birth control. Because it is non-hormonal, there are no active ingredients that need to be absorbed into your body. This means medications like GLP-1s do not interfere with how it works.
Instead, Natural Cycles identifies your fertile and non-fertile days by predicting and confirming ovulation. The algorithm analyzes your basal body temperature along with other fertility indicators to first predict when ovulation is likely to occur, and then confirm that it has happened based on a sustained temperature rise. This ovulation-based approach enables the app to determine your daily fertility status.
Even if GLP-1 medications lead to changes in your cycle—such as shifts in cycle length or ovulation timing—this does not reduce the effectiveness of Natural Cycles. The algorithm continuously adapts to your individual patterns over time. In fact, for some users, metabolic changes associated with GLP-1 use may lead to more regular ovulation, which can make cycles easier to predict.
If you experience significant or unusual changes to your cycle, you can continue using the app as normal. The app may assign more Red Days to maintain protection. We recommend consulting a healthcare provider if you have any concerns.
Please note: If you are planning to conceive while taking a GLP-1 medication, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider for guidance on safely discontinuing treatment and preparing for pregnancy.
